Paradise Beach

Paradise beach is a beautiful and popular beach in the city of Thessaloniki and one of the most famous beaches in Greece, on the Thermaic Gulf.

Thessaloniki is a major city in Greece and the second largest in the country, with a population of about 1 million people. The city has a long and rich history, dating back to around 315 BC when it was founded by Cassander of Macedon.

What the beach is known for?

A body of water

The beach is well known for its clear water, widespread and fine sand. During the summer, which is, of course, the main tourist season, it is visited by thousands of tourists from all over Europe.

Popular activities on paradise beach:

A rocky beach next to the ocean

Popular activities at this beach include sunbathing, tanning, and water sports such as jet skiing, sailing, and deep-sea fishing. The nearby towns of Pefka and Paralia Katerinis are especially popular for sea-related activities as they have a number of boat tours and diving schools.

The water is clear but very cold:

The beach has clean, crystal clear blue waters with a spectacular view of the island of Thassos. Now looking at these photos I cannot understand why this is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. The water is so cold and I can’t see a single soul swimming in it, this makes it a perfect location for those who want to take some great pictures.

Useful Information about paradise beach:

In the summer of 2015, a large part of the beach is protected from the waves by a new breakwater. This breakwater prevented some pebbles from being washed away and allowed sunbeds and parasols to be set up on the foreshore once again.

The same has been done at the beach in front of the White Tower so that visitors can enjoy the sun and the sea in a more comfortable way.

How to get to paradise beach?:

Thessaloniki’s paradise beach is located about 14 km from the city center, on the Thermaic Gulf. The easiest way to get there is by car, but it can also be reached by bus or train. There are a number of public parking areas near the beach.

What makes paradise beach different?

This is a different kind of beach, the water is so much colder than that of other beaches in Greece and it looks like no one can swim in it.

So people just come here to sunbathe?

The sea and the sand aren’t fantastic but what you do get is space and peace and perfect for those who want to relax and top up their tan. The locals come here in the morning and head to the other beaches for a swim, leaving it almost empty for the rest of the day.

In summers, can it get really crowded?

The beach gets extremely busy during peak season as it offers good facilities and is conveniently close to the city center. If you’re looking to avoid the crowds, try to visit during the week or in the early morning or evening.

What is the Callenges paradise beach face?

The main challenge for the beach is preserving its natural environment and keeping the sand clean. There have been complaints in the past about too many sunbeds and parasols, as well as litter on the beach. Authorities have tried to address these issues by imposing restrictions on where people can set up their umbrellas and banning glass bottles.

Conclusion:

Paradise Beach is not my kind of beach but I do think that the people who visit it enjoy their time there, they set up a shaded area, with sunbeds and umbrellas and relax and drink coffee or eat lunch. During the evening, many choose to go for dinner at one of the seaside restaurants in the area.

I really don’t understand why is it so crowded during the summer, as those pictures you see on Google don’t look like a place I would dream of visiting.
